週五（5月17日）美國股市開盤前股指期貨上漲，投資人等待今日將公佈的消費者信心等數據，道瓊指數期貨上漲0.3%，標普500指數期貨上漲0.4%，納斯達克100指數期貨上漲0.22%。J.P. Morgan最新報告上調標普500指數年終目標值預估至1715點，此前的目標為1580點，該行稱多頭走勢強於預期。

按受MarketWatch調查的經濟學家們預計5月密西根大學消費者信心指數將由前月的76.4升至77.5，因消費者對自動減赤的擔憂降低、就業增長以及股市上漲等。美國諮商局4月領先指標預計將月增0.3%，前月為下降0.1%；數據有可能會高於預期，因大多數經濟學家並未針對該指標成分之一--16日公佈的營建許可創五年新高而作出更新的預測。
