MediaTek reportedly is looking for a partner specializing in the design of analog ICs to jointly develop solutions for wearable devices. Texas Instruments and Analog Devices are being pinpointed as among the target partners.
in response, MediaTek said it should develop wearable devices in-house, denying the speculation indirectly.
MediaTek chairman MK Tsai remarked recently that the wearable technology market is promising. The company has also set up an independent department to engage in the development of chip solutions for wearable devices.
In other news, MediaTek's consolidated revenues for the fourth quarter of 2013 beat the company's guidance. Consolidated sales grew 37.7% to an all-time high of NT$136.06 billion (US$4.52 billion) in 2013.
