Samsung Electronics will promote its LTE COE (central office equipment) as well as LTE-enabled smartphones in Taiwan in 2014, according to Andy Tu, president of mobile communications unit at Samsung Electronics Taiwan.
Samsung has already developed LTE-advanced (LTE-A) technology supporting a download speed of 150Mbps and enabling carrier aggregation (CA) and VoLTE technologies, Tu said, adding that Samsung's LTE equipment shipped to Taiwan as well as Japan and Australia will also support 700MHz LTE APT technology.
Meanwhile, Samsung has launched its first LTE-A enabled smartphone, the Galaxy Note 3, in the Taiwan market and will launch mainly LTE flagship models in 2014, Tu added.
Global sales of the Galaxy Note 3 have surpassed five million units since the launch of the model more than a month ago, Tu revealed, adding that sales of the model in Taiwan have accounted for more than 1% of its global sales.
